Being a stay at home mum is both a beautiful and quite daunting task. I remember the first time my husband left the house, we waved goodbye and then I turned back realizing that I was home alone all day with my baby. I had become a stay at home mum, which obviously I wanted but then I started to think about how I would spend my time each day.
Well, 5 years and two kids later I certainly have got used to it and I’m now some what of a pro! For all you stay at home mums out there, here are 5 fantastic tips to help you along the way. Let me know what you think, I’m always kee to hear from the fellow stay at home mums out there.
Make a plan
The best time to do this is the night before, there’s nothing worse than waking up in the morning and thinking ‘what should I do today?’ – when you have two kids to deal with at the same time you need to make sure everything is planned well in advance!
Get out a bit
If you stay at home all day long then you will go crazy! It’s not only you but your kids will go crazy too and your spotless house is going to get very messy! SO get out, see some new face and get some fresh air.
Enjoy the free things
If there are free things to do then you should definitely be doing them. So get in the know of everything happening in the local area that is free. Libraries are the best source of this info, so make sure you head there regularly.
Give out your number
Don’t be shy and give your number to all the other mums you meet during your day. They are like you and cannot wait to meet another mum – you can never have enough mum friends! You can go on play dates, help each other out and also chat about all the problems you both face on a day to day basis.
Don’t exercise to lose weight or be skinny. The reason you should exercise is because it could be the only time in your day when you won’t be interrupted by anyone. Even if you have to hire a babysitter for a while it’s worth it, the alone time and also great feeling you get is priceless!
